MESSAGE SHAYLA:
MESSAGE DRAKE:
I offer individual counseling through telehealth for adolescents and adults, embracing a person-centered approach to honor patients as the experts of their own lives. People engage in therapy at varying times; crisis, conflict, stagnance, transition, loss, fear of the future or burden from the past. Whatever the reason, therapy can be helpful during any stage of life.
My clinical background has been rooted in community mental health and substance use outpatient treatment settings.
My background and professional experience has focused my expertise working with 2SLGBTQIA+, Native American/First-Nations/Indigenous, addictions, poverty and housing insecurity, anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), intergenerational trauma, institutional violence, Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), perpetrators of violence, survivors of violence, and people in long-term recovery from substance misuse and mental illness. Understanding ourselves as individual systems with different working parts, can help us gain insight into maintaining our wellbeing. Importantly, nobody needs to go through it alone, and I invite people to explore their options through therapy.
My approach takes on a Humanistic blend of Psychotherapy including Solution-Focused Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). These are paired with body-centered techniques including Somatic, Poly-Vagal, Meditation and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
