Addison Tice, LMHCA
Associate Clinician
I am an Associate Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My approach to therapy is one of holistic collaboration with my clients. I work to create a safe and welcoming space for them to examine the challenges that bring them to our clinic. We look at thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as the people and systems clients interact with, and how those environments and systems impact the issues that bring them to therapy.
To create a personalized treatment plan, we use my clinical experience and insight paired with your insights and expertise on your own life experience. We will know this plan is successful not just with decreased symptoms, but increased health, happiness, and values-centered actions.
I draw on evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients process emotions, as well as develop skills and routines that help reduce the impact of symptoms and remove obstacles to valued actions and goals. Physical sensations often accompany our emotions, so I often teach somatic techniques to help people learn to regulate their nervous systems in order to reduce stress and improve functioning. I also have experience working with people to integrate spirituality into their regular routines as a means of both self-care and personal development.
Finally, I am grounded in the existential therapy tradition. I believe that being connected to one’s values and sense of purpose is a powerful pathway to fulfilment and self-actualization. These are also protective factors in the face of feelings of isolation, meaninglessness, and uncertainty about the future.
I work with people ages 16 and up. I love to work with a wide array of people and I have experience working with a variety of mental health diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and trauma-related diagnoses
